Easy, Calm Approach for the Best Shot

Eels like this Tiger Moray are easily frightened and will back off into their shelter quickly if you approach too fast or too close. For a shot like this, use the 1x camera lens on your smartphone, which let’s you keep your distance while still being close enough so that your light can reach the animal. Going on a low perspective and shooting upward also helps to make the subject stand out from the background.
